In Astrology, 3 and 9 numbers have been given too much importance. 3 indicate three dimension and 9 indicates wholeness. This is why, in every counting and measurement in this system revolves around these two numbers. In order to learn Astrology, we need to know about Zodiac (Rashi Chakra). Zodiac goes along 9⁰either side of annual path of the Sun. It is an imaginary circular path ranging 18⁰ in breadth. In this circular belt all planets seem to move, if geocentrically we observe. Being it circular, it is of 360⁰ and has been divided into 12 signs. Each sign (Rashi) is of 30⁰ arc. Each sign contains the area of two and a quarter Nakshatra (star or asterism or constellation). Thus, there are 27 (12x2.25) Nakshatras (stars) each of 13⁰ 20’. Each Nakshatra has been divided in to four part each of 3⁰ 20’.

Each sign is ruled by a certain planet. The ruling planet is called as Lord of the sign. Every nakshatra or star is also ruled by a certain planet. Such planet is called as star lord. Let us learn the name and 12 signs and its lord.
