What is Role of Mangal / Kuja (Mars) in Astrology

Mangal is known as Angar also. In South India it is called Kuja. 'Kuja' means 'burning coal'. Mangal is called 'Bhumi Putra also. In Planetary Cabinet Mars is in the role of commandar. Mangalik Kuja Dosha in the Birth Chart

Mangalik Dosha is formed when Mars finds placement in the 1st, 4th, 7th, 8th, 12th house from the lagna (ascendant ), Chandra lagna (moon sign) and Karaka position in the Birth Chart and Navmansha chart also. The highest degree of this Manglik dosh is formed when mars is placed in ascendant or the seventh house. These two placements form two most severe manglik dosh out of which placement in seventh is the most severe of all. Next in severity in decreasing order come the mars in eighth house, then forth and then twelfth house. In addition to mars, Sun, Saturn, Rahu and ketu’s placement in the houses mentioned above also forms partial Mangal dosha.

Cancellation / Exceptions to Manglik dosh

Mars dosha is understood canceled in some particular conditions shown below:

When Mars is in its own sign Aries, exalted Cancer or in the houses owned by planets considered to be his friends like, Sun, Moon, Jupiter.

If Mars is in the 2nd house, but in the signs of Mercury i.e. Gemini & Virgo.

If Mars is in the 4th house, but in Aries.

If Mars is in the 7th house, but in exalted in Capricorn or debilitated in Cancer.

If Mars is in the 8th house, but in Pisces.

If Mars is in the 12th house, but in Venus Sign Taurus & Libra.

For Cancer and Leo Ascendants, Mars is a yoga Karkataka and so no dosha occurs wherever it is placed.

For Aquarius Ascendant, if Mars is in the 4th or 8th house.

If benefic Jupiter or Venus occupies the ascendant.

If Mars is in conjunction or aspected by Jorupiter, Moon.

If Mars is in conjunction or aspected by Sun, Mercury, Saturn or Rahu.

Mars Dosha is considerably reduced, if Saturn aspects the houses owned by Mars, but subject to the other planetary positions in the natal chart. Remember that even if a person has severe Mars Dosha, after the age of 28, the effects of Kuja Dosha are reduced.

If a woman with the widowhood yoga marries a man with a similar yoga of loss of spouse, then such yoga will get cancelled.

Kuja Dosha is canceled, if both the girl and the boy have Kuja Dosha.

Marry with Manglik spouse.

Visit Hanuman Temple or Subramaniyam Temple.

Offer donation of commodities represented by Mars.

Chant Mantra of Mars.

Avoid Red Colour.

Avoid Munga or coral gem.

Recite Hanuman Chalisa, Sundar Kand, Shree Mangala Chandika Stotram regularly or on Tuesday.

Keep fasting on Tuesday.

Do Charity. Donate Red Daal, Munga (Croal), Rred silks, Knives or swords.
